SO, the provisional fixture list shows Liverpool Reserves tackling Sunderland in the first Barclays Premier Reserve League (North) fixture to take place at Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium.

I'm sure many Reds fans and Warrington sports lovers would have preferred to see a derby' with Everton, Man United or Man City to kick things off in the town but I think it could work out well.

Both Liverpool and Wolves officials will expect big gates' for the derbies' and therefore would find it hard to truly gauge the amount of general interest for this level of football in the borough.

But facing Sunderland will be one of the lesser attractive games on the calendar and there will be very little travelling support, if any at all.

So the crowd on October 2 will be made up of those likely to watch on a regular basis and those who turn out for the novelty value of being able to say I was there' for the first game.

Games are set to start at 7pm which is not a good move in my view.

Traffic at traditional going-home time in these parts can be pretty hard going any may put off some from travelling along the M62 from Liverpool to Warrington. Perhaps 7.45pm or 8pm would have been better.

I think the pricing policy is fair enough - £5 for adults is less than two pints of beer in many places and should not put people off coming through the turnstiles.
