A STOCKTON Heath church has been chosen to receive a share of £1.5m to be spent on repairing 10 Grade Two listed churches and chapels in the north west.
St. Thomas' CE Church will get £136,000 from English Heritage, but it will only make a dent in the estimated £1.25m needed to fully restore the church, which has wet and dry rot, structural and roofing problems, Rev Michael Ridley said.
"We have been extremely fortunate to gain a grant from English Heritage, one of just two in Cheshire," he said.
"This is a result of the desperate nature of the money needed."
