Derek’s award-winning photo captured his wife, Josephine, and daughter, Tara, pulling on the ropes of their hire boat ‘Holly Day’
A 72-YEAR-OLD boat enthusiast from Stockton Heath has been announced as one of the winners of a new photographic competition launched by the Canal & River Trust charity.
The competition searched for ‘imaginative and evocative’ photographs depicting ‘life on the waterways’ across north Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.
Derek Quilliam, from Stockton Heath, won first prize for an image which showed his wife, Josephine, and daughter, Tara, pulling on the ropes of hire boat ‘Holly Day’ while out on a trip cruising along the Shropshire Union Canal.
Tom Morrison, 15, from Shropshire, won in the under 16 category.
