A FLOWER shop in Penketh has been giving customers the chance to have a selfie with the Queen as part of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Staff at Molly Blooms on Honiton Way have been inviting people to pose with a life-size cut-out of the Queen that they had ordered for a window display.
Owner Paula Carroll said: “We were going to do a window display with her but she didn’t arrive in time. I woke up this morning and thought hang on – it would be great to have a selfie with the Queen!
“People think we are a bit crazy.”
The photographs have been posted on the florist’s Facebook page and include Her Majesty making a visit to Delgados Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant, birthday tea at Sexton's Village Bakery and a trip to the Urban Beauty Salon.
Ninety-three year old Eric Pemberton, one of the florist’s regular customers, also popped in to have his photograph taken with Her Majesty.
Paula said she is a fan of the Queen and has lots of Royal memorabilia that she is planning to use for a future window display.
“We are going to have a special window display in her honour for her other birthday in June, with bunting and a small corgi dog and I have a big collection of commemorative mugs to use too.
“I think you have got to respect the Queen, haven’t you?”
