A NEWLY-elected member of the Rixton-with-Glazebrook Parish Council has vowed to ‘fight against HS2’.
Cllr Andrew Hill has become the youngest person ever to have been elected to the parish council and will take up the post in May.
He said: “I am delighted to have been elected unopposed to Rixton-with-Glazebrook Parish Council – I will work hard for the village and bring a fresh enthusiasm and determination to the table.
“I was pleased to learn that I am the youngest candidate ever to have been elected to the parish council in Rixton and I am extremely grateful for the support that local residents have given me already.
“When my term of office begins in May I will work with my fellow councillors to ensure that the needs of our community are addressed and that the council delivers good value for money in both Rixton and Glazebrook.
“My top priority will be to continue the fight against HS2 – the Tories in government have delayed their announcement on the final route the project will take and that is simply unacceptable.
“I will be working with my Labour party colleagues Tony McCarthy and Pat Wright to fight Rixton’s corner and make the case for our village at the highest levels.”
