SCHOOLS in Whitecross have teamed up to tackle crime on their grounds.
St Barnabas Primary and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary schools are working together for School Watch, an initiative to cut crime in the Whitecross area.
Both schools have signs on site to act as warnings against criminal damage and anti-social behaviour. They were produced by the company Evolvecreative and funded by Cheshire Police.
School Watch was introduced by police community support officer Kath Harkin. As well as sharing information, the schools will also work closely with police officers in the area.
Inspector Alex Kane said: "Crime committed on school premises has a significant impact on pupils, staff and the community as a whole and puts a considerable strain upon limited school budgets.
"PCSO Kath Harkin has worked very hard to get the School Watch up and running in Whitecross and it demonstrates the commitment of the Warrington Central Neighbourhood Policing Unit to reducing this type of crime, to increase reassurance in Whitecross and to introduce the scheme in other areas of Warrington."
