PENKETH Library is one of nine libraries to have its opening hours slashed in a month long trial by LiveWire.
The opening hours have been cut by five and a half hours a week and could be shortened permanently if the trial is a success.
Childminder Victoria Egan has been using the library for 11 years and said it is essential to the community.
She said the children she cares for love visiting the library for book clubs, readings and craft sessions.
“I have always taken my own children and the ones I care for to visit the library.
“The shorter hours mean that people can’t visit in the early evening and to be closed all day Friday is appalling.
“I am passionate about books and encouraging reading from an early age and I really hope LiveWire will reconsider these cuts.”
