DO you want to learn how to knit?

Residents are being invited to Stockton Heath ice cream parlour Pure Indulgence, on London Road, to learn the skill or even just to socialise over a coffee and snack.

Anyone interested can work on their own project or take part in the ongoing venture set up to help babies in a special care unit.

The event will take place each Friday from 10am to noon.

Appleton academy opens doors

A PERFORMING arts academy in Appleton opened its doors to youngsters on Saturday.

Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts 4-19 Warrington launched at Bridgewater High School, on Hall Drive.

It is the latest of the organisation's academies and will give those aged four to 19 the chance to excel in a 'fun and safe' environment, with added focus on building the confidence of students.

Yoga classes for kids

CHILDREN can take a break and release 'physical tension' from their bodies by attending yoga classes in Appleton and Stockton Heath.

Happy Kids Yoga hosts weekly classes combining yoga and 'mindfulness' to encourage youngsters to grow in confidence to the best of their ability.

Each session, which is open to those aged between three and eight, lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

Participants will get the chance to release physical tension through stretching and breathing exercises before enjoying a story.

Classes in Appleton take place at St Mary Magdalene's Church hall, on Dingleway, each Thursday, with sessions at Stockton Heath Primary School, on West Avenue, on Thursdays and Fridays.

Classes run in five-week terms but anyone interested can join at any point.

Yoga parties for kids are also available and 'pregnancy yoga classes' will be launched in the near future.

Boost for golf greens

GREENS on the course at Warrington Golf Club have received a welcome boost following an 'air injection'.

Staff from Greener Grounds, which specialises in ground and turf maintenance, were called in to improve the state of the courses at the Appleton club, on London Road.

It praised the firm for carrying out the 'much needed air injection' on the greens.

Air injectors are used to 'shatter' hard layers created through everyday activity on courses.

Antique fairs in Stretton

COLLECTORS are being urged to head to a Stretton hotel throughout the year to attend a number of antique fairs.

V&A Fairs has been running events at the Park Royal, on Stretton Road, for the past 13 years.

A fair took place on Saturday but residents are now being invited to the next one on February 14, before fairs in March, April, September, October, November and December.
