DRIVERS using the M6 through Cheshire are being reminded overnight carriageway closures start tonight, Tuesday.
Narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit are being introduced as part of a £14.5 million improvement programme.
The project, which was unveiled last month, will see roadworks between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm Services for bridge repairs and new safety barriers.
The work, due to be completed in early 2017, was due to start on Friday but was delayed due to the weekend’s severe weather.
All the overnight closures will take place between 11pm and 5am each night.
Closures around Warrington include Saturday and possibly Sunday southbound between junction 20 at Lymm Services and junction 19 and Monday and possibly next Tuesday northbound between junctions 19 and 20.
All the work is weather dependent.
Advance warning signs will be in place to advise road users of the closures and diversion routes will be clearly signed.
