VOTING is now open on Warrington Disability Partnership’s poster competition, which will see one child’s artwork displayed on a town centre shopfront throughout 2016.

A total of 50 entries were received for the poster competition, which asked youngsters to design a poster for the charity’s upcoming 25th birthday and to celebrate their state as Warrington Guardian’s charity of the year 2016.

The winning poster, themed around what disabled people can do, will be featured of a shopfront in Golden Square Shopping Centre throughout next year.

The 50 entries were whittled down to a shortlist of 18 by a judging panels, with six entries in each category.

Dave Thompson MBE, chief executive and co-founder of Warrington Disability Partnership, said: “The idea of the competition was to children in schools to talk about disability and we’ve definitely done that, it’s been really useful.

“Some of the thought that’s gone into the entries is really quite inspiring.

“Some of them have been really inspired by some of the athletes which is probably a carry-on from the Paralympics.”

“I’m looking forward now to see who will win – it’s now up to the public to vote on which entry they think is the best.”

The shortlisted entries are: Under sevens – Matthew Kemp, Archie Lawlor, Eva Longden, Lily Norton, Daisy Nurse, Benjamin Wicks.

7 to 11-year-olds - Bailee Glover, Scarlett Kelly, Harvey Moseley, Summer Murphy, Alfie Pitts, Charlie Pitts.

11 to 18-year-olds - Lauren Bell, Max Helm, Michael McKay, Emma Robinson, Issy Snape, Jessica Wilcock.

The entries are now on display in the café at Warrington Disability Partnership on Beaufort Street, Sankey Bridges – the public will be able to vote for their favourite entries there until Friday December 11.
