OFFICERS were out in force earlier this month conducting licensing checks at premises in Warrington town centre and Stockton Heath.

Working in partnership with Trading Standards, police carried out the checks as part of Operation Blue Christmas.

Inspector Richard Spedding said: “We are committed to making Warrington safer, and with Christmas approaching it’s important that we ensure that all licensed premises comply with all of the licensing regulations.

“By conducing checks such as these, and working in partnership with our colleagues, we can help to prevent crimes occurring, and protect vulnerable people in the local area.”

In addition to conducting licensing checks, officers were also keen to encourage people out in the town to stay safe.

Richard added: “Over the coming weeks more people are likely to out celebrating in Warrington with friends and family, and it’s important that everyone takes care when out and about.

“We recognise that Christmas is a time to have fun, and we’re here to support members of our community to ensure that everyone is able to have a safe and enjoyable time throughout the holiday season.”
