TOY donations for a Christmas appeal have been flooding in, with one resident donating four large bags of gifts having saved specially up all year.

Smart Storage’s Christmas toy appeal has been overwhelmed with donations from the public – including one from 72-year-old Woolston resident Sandra Jones, who has saved all year round to donate four big bags of gifts.

Appeal organiser Paul Whittaker said: “The unbelievable generosity of the people of Warrington is highlighted by Sandra’s donation – those who may perhaps only have little themselves are giving to those who may have nothing.

“It’s a true reflection of the meaning of community spirit as well as Christmas.

“We are now well on the way to surpassing last year’s total and Warrington residents still have plenty of time to donate gifts to any of our drop off points around the town.”

Charities including the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, JUMP and NSPCC Warrington will benefit from the appeal.

Alex Modder, NSPCC service centre manager in Warrington, said: “Christmas should be a magical time for children, full of joy happiness and the excitement of tearing into presents.

“But for some children and families who use our services it’s a time when they feel more alone than ever when they’re struggling to cope.

“These donations will go a long way to help us support these families at this time of year.”

Toy donations should ideally be new or nearly new and can be dropped off at Smart Storage on Lythgoes Lane, the Warrington Guardian offices or the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
