A GREAT Sankey man who is battling cancer has received a mobility scooter and lift chair after his 14-year-old daughter organised a fundraising event.
St Gregory’s Catholic High School pupil Shannon Taylor organised a charity night at the Tetley Walker Club in Orford for her dad Graham McEwan, who was diagnosed with spinal and prostate cancer in February.
They were aiming to raise £500 for a mobility scooter but the night was so successful that they managed to buy a mobility scooter and a lift chair in the living with the £753 of donations.
Graham, 46, said there wasn’t a seat to be had at the Long Lane club during the fundraiser.
He said: “We completely filled the room at the Tetley Walker club – there wasn’t a seat left.”
“Having the scooter will make a 100 per cent difference.
“Shannon’s done it all herself – it was her idea and she’s unbelievable.
“She’s phenomenal – she’s the best daughter I could have and she’s been a rock for me.”
