A BRIDAL boutique owner from Latchford has scooped a coveted national award just days after the store's first year anniversary.
Rebecca Lord-Lyon, owner of Edith and Winston bridal wear in Knutsford, is celebrating success after winning the ‘best bridal range’ in the national plus size awards on Saturday night.
The store, which specialises in plus size wedding dresses and accessories, opened on November 15 last year, and just 12 months later Becca has joined the ranks of top designers in the UK, receiving her award at a glamourous ceremony in central London.
The 26-year-old said: “It was amazing. We couldn’t believe that we had won.
"We were talking to other bridal shops throughout the night and they have been doing it for so long.
“I don’t remember what I said it was a blur, but a few people have told me I did a great speech. I know that I said everybody deserves their perfect dress.”
Rebecca set up the shop in Knutsford so that she could give women the opportunity to feel comfortable when they try on their wedding dress after being inspired by her own personal experience.
Since opening a year ago, she has worked hard to stock a wide range of dresses and bridal wear from sizes 16 to 32, and has gathered a loyal following on Instagram.
Her customers have been known to travel across the country to buy dresses from the store where she works with her mother Janet and her husband Callum.
She added: “In the first couple of months people didn’t come in much.
"But people follow us because of our unique photoshoots, which is really nice.
“Also our model, Georgina is a blogger and she won the award for best blogger which is lovely that we both got it in the same year- bloggers are really important to the industry and lots of people have come to us through Georgina, so it is great that she won too.
“We are a really niche market so we are working with niche people.
"I think we do something quite different from a lot of the bridal shops down south, the designs that people want really are different."
