PURSE thieves have been operating in Westbrook this morning.

Police have warned shoppers at the Westbrook Centre to be alert following reports of purse thefts today, Tuesday.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police have revealed a 'highly successful method of stopping thieves from purse dipping'.

He said: "Please be aware of your surroundings at all times.

"A simple bell attached to your purse may be just enough to alert you if someone is trying to steal it.

"These bells are a very simple but effective way to stop and deter thieves. 

"These are especially popular for use in busy shopping areas or whilst using public transport when you are most likely to have your valuables stolen."
