A HOMELESSNESS initiative launched more than two decades ago in response to the mounting number of people living on the streets will return to the town next month.
But more volunteers are needed to help those in need.
Warrington Open Door At Christmas (WODAC) will once again take over St John's Church on Wilderspool Causeway from December 25 to January 1 from 9.30 to 3.30pm with lunch served at 12.30pm.
WODAC was launched in 1991 by John Campbell due to concerns over the rise in homelessness and isolation in the town.
The scheme, which is run by volunteers, offers refreshments, meals, warm clothing and toiletries over the Christmas and new year period.
A spokesman for WODAC said: "There are many people that are homeless and isolated throughout the year, and at Christmas time, it is often more difficult to find accommodation.
"This is due to other agencies being closed.
"At Christmas people feel even more alone and in need of support and help.
"We believe that WODAC plays a vital role in providing help to improve many people’s life at a time of year, which would otherwise be pretty lonely and miserable."
The service provides tea and toast and a three course meal each day as well as offering clothing to those in need.
This year, guests will be able to benefit from a chiropodist and a hairdresser.
All guests and volunteers must be 18 years or over.
If transport is needed over the Christmas period call 07930491615.
