WE have passed the half way point for our 10 ‘dancers’ who will be jiving, gliding and shimmying their way across the dancefloor as Warrington’s own glittering showdown gives Strictly Come Dancing a run for its money.
Four hundred guests will descend on Mere Golf Resort and Spa for the third Strictly St Rocco’s charity fundraiser on December 13.
As the day of dancing draws closer, we are taking a peek behind the training room doors and finding out how the contestants are feeling ahead of the sell-out night.
Name: Anna Chrystal
Age: 31
Lives: Stretford, Manchester
Where did you grow up? Poynton, Cheshire
Day job: Marketing manager at Golden Square Shopping Centre
Reasons for taking part in Strictly St Rocco's: Golden Square has always been a supporter of St Rocco’s for many years and this year they have been our nominated charity of the year.
Last year I took part in the Starlight Walk and wanted to do more.
The opportunity to take part in such a prestigious event like Strictly St Rocco’s is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. Learning a new skill and really challenging myself physically and to raise as much money as possible for St Rocco's.
Secret fan of Strictly Come Dancing? I love Strictly Come Dancing, it’s the only reality TV show that I watch.
I fondly remember watching it with my grandparents year after year. I’d like to think that they would be really proud of me.
Partnered with: The amazing Wayne Newhouse owner of Cadman’s Dance Centre is my partner.
An established dance teacher for more than 25 years, Wayne has taught and competed all over Europe, choreographed for film and TV and winner of the original BBC version of Come Dancing in 1978/79. With so much experience I’ve every confidence in Wayne but still can’t work out how old he is!
Strictly dance: We are dancing the tango. I am so happy we got this dance. It’s high temp performance and I hope a real show stopper.
What’s your experience been like so far? I’ve really enjoyed dancing with Wayne. I’ve never danced before so it was a real unknown.
I’ve a new found respect for the Strictly Come Dancing stars.
I’ve loved every second of my training. Wayne has been very patient with me and has encouraged me to take on more complex choreography.
Fundraising target: If I can raise upwards of £1,000 I’d be over the moon. Every penny counts so please keep it coming!
Are you looking forward to the night? I’m really excited about the night. Spray tan, glitzy dress, heels and hair spray. The atmosphere will be electric.
What’s your biggest fear about the event? Messing up the routine in front of hundreds of people and letting Wayne down. We’ve worked really hard and I want to put on a great show.
Training so far: I’ve really enjoyed my training and I look forward to it every week. It’s a huge challenge which is exactly what I was expecting.
I’m determined to put on a good show to make all our hard work worthwhile.
Who will be supporting you on the night? The Golden Square team are coming to support me and of course my husband, friends and family. I hope I can do them all proud.
