A NURSE who has worked on the neonatal unit at Warrington Hospital for 35 years has starred in a moving new advert in which she is reunited with dozens of babies who she brought into the world.
Jill Kenyon has worked on the unit for 35 years and has been chosen as the star of a touching advert for Johnson’s baby products.
In the Mother of 1000 Babies ad Jill is reunited with scores of people who she cared for in their very first days of life – with an age range from new-born babies to men and women in their mid-20s.
The Orford resident said: “It’s lovely, it’s nice to be chosen and it was just nice to have the opportunity to film it.
“They wanted somebody who’s been here a long time so they asked me if I fancied doing it so I said go on then – they twisted my arm.”
The advert has already been screen in countries like Australia and South Africa and will be shown in the UK early next year.
In the ad, 58-year-old Jill says: “I’ve probably looked after thousands of babies over the last 35 years – I’ve even looked after babies having their own babies now.
“They’re very fragile and so tiny that they just need you there to help them along the way – they’re very vulnerable.
“I often think about certain babies and wonder what they’re up to now and what career they’ve chosen – it would be lovely to see them.
“I do have children of my own but actually it feels like I have 3000 – it’s really, really special.”
In the advert, filmed over 22 hours at Warrington Hospital and a film studio in Manchester, Jill mentions one baby that she cared for who stands out.
Jill, who has three grown-up children of her own, said: “She was one of those little tiny ones who was really, really poorly and we nearly lost her at one point but she pulled through and she’s doing great now.
“They’re all grown up now - they’re working or at school and they’re all doing really well and quite a few people have had babies of their own now.
“I’m a member of a huge team here and we all work very, very hard – there’s not only me, there are loads of us.
“We’re all a massive team and we work well together.”
