A WARRINGTON-BASED heating company has called on residents to check their boilers and gas appliances during Carbon Monoxide Awareness. Week

Frontline Plumbing and Heating is backing the annual awareness campaign, which highlights the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, often caused by faulty gas appliances including boilers and heaters.

Recent research suggests that more than 30 million people in the UK could be at risk from carbon monoxide poisoning as almost half of all UK households do not have an audible carbon monoxide alarm

Gary Chisnall, managing director at Frontline Plumbing and Heating, said: “Carbon monoxide is an extremely dangerous gas because it’s tasteless, invisible and odourless.

“As boilers and heaters are turned up to combat the cold weather, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from faulty gas appliances significantly increases at this time of year.

"Carbon monoxide alarms can detect the gas before it causes any harm so we’re urging anyone that doesn’t have one installed to get one for their home."
