A CANCER sufferer whose daughter has organised a fundraiser to help him get a mobility scooter has described the 14-year-old as his rock.
Graham McEwan, aged 46, was diagnosed with spinal and prostate cancer in February and his 14-year-old daughter Shannon Taylor has organised a charity night to raise funds for a mobility scooter for her dad.
Great Sankey resident Graham, who got married only three months ago, said: “Having the scooter will make a 100 per cent different – I’ve got a mobility car but I don’t drive it a lot.
“I’m in a wheelchair but a mobility scooter will help me to get around a lot more.
“Shannon’s done it all herself, it was her idea and she’s unbelievable.
“She’s phenomenal – she’s the best daughter I could have and she’s been a rock for me.”
St Gregory’s Catholic High School pupil Shannon has organised a fundraising night which takes place at the Tetley Walker Club on Long Lane from 7pm tomorrow, Friday.
They are aiming to raise £500 for Graham’s mobility scooter, with an auction featuring a signed Warrington Wolves rugby ball.
The family are also planning a 10 mile charity walk around Warrington, taking in landmarks along the way.
