BARCLAYS has donated £5,000 to Warrington Disability Partnership.
The bank matched the amount raised at WDP’s annual Mega BBQ, Quiz and Charity Auction as part of their community initiative.
WDP co-founder Dave Thompson MBE said: “We have been totally blown away by the generosity of Barclays and their colleagues – everyone thinks that Disability Awareness Day is our biggest money maker yet every year we simply look to cover the running costs.
“It is only with the help of our sponsors and through the fundraising that we do that we are able to achieve the positive outcomes in the local community that we strive for.”
The Barclays team has attended the last two Disability Awareness Days – winning the Best Exhibitor award last year for their use of inclusive products including access to a sign language interpreter on cash machines.
Patrick Birnie, accessibility and inclusion manager at Barclays, said: “As someone who has grown up in the local area I have had the privilege to see the difference that WDP has made to the lives of so many people.
“The time and effort they invest in raising awareness for accessibility and inclusivity across the town and wider area is second to none – it’s been our pleasure to be involved in Disability Awareness Day which next year marks its 25th anniversary.”
