A KIND-HEARTED child carer has shaved her head to raise money for this year’s Children In Need appeal.
Annie Hallmark, aged 25, had her head shaved at Evolution Childcare on Friday afternoon where she works as a childcare practitioner.
Her shoulder-length locks will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.
Speaking ahead of the snip, Annie said: “I’m not nervous, I’m more excited at the moment.
"My boyfriend (Pietro Cantisani) will be shaving my head and he is excited but nervous because he doesn’t want to get it wrong."
It took just 15 minutes for Annie to have her plaits cut off with the barbers across the road touched up her new hair do for free.
Annie says she is now looking forward to wearing a green wig and spending less time on her hair before going out.
She added: “I can wear any hat I like now without worrying about my hair and I won’t have to fuss about with curlers or straighteners.
“I’m hoping to grow it out now – I’m really excited about how it will turn out.”
Annie said she had been thinking about shaving her head for months and Children In Need was the perfect opportunity.
The children at Evolution Childcare were just as excited about the event as Annie:
She added: “All the kids knew about it – I popped my head around the door afterwards and they all recognised me.”
More than £500 has been raised so far with donations from parents at the nursery, friends and family.
