A GREAT SANKEY couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary today.
Joyce and Clifford Hepherd marked their platinum anniversary today having met in Woolston at the age of 14 before getting married four years later.
Now 87 and 88 respectively, Joyce and Clifford are keen gardeners who enjoy visit National Trust sites across the country.
The pair have four children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who have lived in Warrington their whole lives – spending the last 60 years in Great Sankey.
Clifford is a retired fire officer from Warrington Fire Service while Joyce worked in the Co-op in men’s outfitting.
Daughter Janet Hughes said: “They’re both characters who are loved by their family.
“They’re not a lovey dovey couple and their view on marriage would be if something was broken you fixed it and don’t throw it away.
“They don’t argue they have daily skirmishes.”
