INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after a man was stabbed in the back in Dallam last night.
A 26-year-old man was taken to Walton Hospital following the attack yesterday, Sunday, on Longshaw Street.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.20pm following reports of a window being smashed.
Police allege the victim attempted to intervene and stop the suspects from damaging the property which belonged to another member of the public.
It was during this time that he was assaulted with a metal bar.
The victim has been treated for a fractured jaw and a punctured wound to the back, police say.
Police were unable to confirm what has caused the puncture wound at this stage.
The victim was able to call the emergency services from a neaby phone box.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said his injuries are said to be serious.
No arrests have been made at this stage but enquiries are ongoing.
This follows the news of another stabbing which took place in Old Hall. Read more here.
