AN INTERNATIONAL exchange partnership between Warrington and Italy had made an impact on youth democracy in the town.

Student Marco Guerini, aged 17, has been sharing his experience of representing young people on the Italian Youth Parliament with members of IMPACT Warrington Youth Council and Warrington’s members of Youth Parliament.

Marco’s visit was arranged through language school Education First and he is one of two overseas students living with a family in Great Sankey during his year in Britain.

Marco, who lives near to Milan, is spending a year in the UK, studying A-levels in physics, product design and mathematics, along with a GCSE in English at Priestley College.

He described working with IMPACT as a 'pleasure'.

He added: "I liked helping students in Italy and enjoy doing the same here with such a nice and interesting group.

"Working with a member of the Youth Parliament like Rose Warburton is exciting and productive and I can see in her how all the members are working with enthusiasm."

Cllr Jean Carter, executive board member for children’s services, said: “Young people like Marco and Rose represent a bright future for our young people at home and abroad with their commitment to democracy and political engagement."

IMPACT, Warrington’s Youth Council is supported by Warrington Youth Service.
