IT is the news commuters have been waiting for after a week of delays during the morning and evening rush hour.
Motorists have been caught in long queues throughout the town centre after a lane on the slip road from the M6 southbound to the M56 had to be closed following a crash last Thursday.
But a Highways England spokesman has confirmed today work to replace the damaged barrier will take place on Sunday evening and should be completed in time for the Monday morning rush hour.
He added: "The slip road will be closed on Sunday night at 9pm until 5am the following morning while replacement work takes place.
"A new part has had to be manufactured to replace the damaged barrier which is why motorists may not have seen anyone working on the site this week.
"We would like to thank drivers for their patience and hope things should be back to normal by Monday morning."
