AN exhibition paying tribute to one of Warrington's most iconic landmarks opens tomorrow, Saturday.
'Goodbye Mr Smiths' chronicles the nightclub and cinema's history from 1937 until its demolition on April 14 following a fire.
It includes a collection of photos, posters, news reports and memories, including interviews with some of Mr Smiths' biggest characters such as 'Stan the Man' and Hitman and Her dancer Wiggy.
The exhibition is at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery and runs until February 20.
Michelle Hill, curator, said: "It was important to capture people’s memories of Mr Smiths as it was an important landmark in the town and so many people were touched by its demolition.
"The exhibition gives a real insight into the building on its journey from an art deco cinema to the iconic nightclub and it also explores how Warrington people enjoyed the time they spent there."
Pick up the Warrington Guardian on Thursday for the first of our two-part feature on the exhibition.
