A NEW club giving pupils at Beamont Collegiate Academy (BCA) the chance to fly drones is taking off.
As part of its vision to lead the way in technology and engineering, BCA is now teaching students how to fly the state-of-the-art objects.
Director of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) Chris Hillidge said: "We want our pupils to use the most up to date technology and learn to fly the drone so they can film projects around the school and in the community.
"Also as our fantastic new school building develops we want to film each stage to share with the students.
"Our best STEM students will travel to Boston and New York next year to work with engineers at Harvard who build drones and robots – so we want our students to fully understand how they work."
BCA is open every Saturday to give pupils the chance to learn required skills.
