RESIDENTS are being invited to attend a debate covering the town's recent damning heritage ranking.
In September a study by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) named Warrington as the worst place in the country for making the most out of its heritage.
The council and Culture Warrington have vowed to address the matter and highlight what the town has to offer.
Culture Warrington will host the Warrington's Heritage Matters event at Warrington Museum on Saturday, November 21 from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
RSA director Jonathan Schifferes, who admitted the town was 'underestimated' in the study, and Sara Hilton, head of Heritage Lottery Fund North West, will speak to guests during the day.
Anybody who believes Warrington has a unique heritage which should be preserved, celebrated and promoted is being urged to attend the free event.
Topics will include the Heritage Index ranking, how heritage can create a 'vibrant town and resilient community', as well as a discussion of plans for the town's heritage vision for 2020.
The study said Warrington had no areas of natural beauty but Mr Schifferes admitted improvements will be made to the process next year.
The event is now fully booked.
