A HERITAGE group has praised the transformation of Woolston Park South following pruning, shaping and felling work.

The park consists of the open space on the South side of Manchester Road, and is one of a cluster of sites that the New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail Group are working to preserve for residents.

Cllr Ian Johnson from the group is pleased with recent pruning, shaping and selective felling work that has opened up the space for users and plant life alike.

He said: “The works are a fantastic example of the professionalism of the team from the council, which for this space has announced its existence, opened up the main road frontage, shone light from all angles and which has boosted enjoyment – giving a feel of being a safe location to enjoy.

“The completed tree works combined with the council’s agreement to recommence regular grass cutting in the park makes you feel you are in a totally different location than just a few months ago – giving a sense that the space is valued, managed and can regenerate and thrive in Spring and beyond.”

Residents will also soon benefit from works between Larkfield Avenue and Paddington Bank that have been funded by Warrington Borough Council and the Environment Agency.

Meanwhile the group has established a bird-watching and data recording group in the area – anyone interested can contact newcuthandetrailgroup@gmail.com.
