BOSSES at the Golden Square shopping centre have confirmed an evacuation this morning was a 'false fire alarm'. 

Posts on social media sites from shoppers had suggested there had been a bomb scare but officials say that was not the case.  

Ian Cox, Golden Square director, said: “The centre was quickly and safely evacuated this morning following a false alarm.

"The safety of customers and staff is our primary concern. I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
