A WHITECROSS resident has hit out over the time taken to clean up boxes and duvets in the area which were 'attracting a lot of flies' and causing 'danger' to children.
Paul Rigby, of Leicester Street, said the litter was dotted around roads close to his property throughout July.
He reported it to the council three times but the authority has confirmed it is the duty of Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) to clear the fly-tipping on the sites affected.
But apart from revealing his frustration, Mr Rigby believes residents were lucky not have been injured.
"It was a danger to people living here, especially children as a lot of them went past it," he said.
"There is also a man who uses a walking stick so it could have caused him an injury when trying to go past the boxes and duvets.
"There were also a lot of flies around the litter because of the time all of the mess was there."
GGHT said it takes reports of littering and fly-tipping on its land 'very seriously'.
A spokesman added: "As soon as the incident on Leicester Street was reported to us we asked our caretakers to remove it immediately.
"Through working closely with the council and Cheshire Police, GGHT is committed to keeping the areas which it owns clean, tidy and safe for residents.
"To ensure we do this we offer a responsive service, where customers can call GGHT direct and report fly-tipping and littering.
"We also hold regular estate clean-up days across the borough.
"All residents are also able to request the removal of bulky waste through the council – a charge may be applied for this service."
The council has a ground maintenance and cleansing contract with GGHT to empty litter bins and clean up the area each week.
