A DEDICATED children’s nurse has been praised after spending her entire career caring for the children and families in Warrington.
Sue trained as a nurse at Warrington Hospital 1979 to 1982.
She moved from the children’s ward into the community setting in 1996 and has been a community children’s nurse team leader and matron for the past 19 years.
Sue and her team, who are employed by Bridgewater Community Healthcare Foundation Trust, provide specialist nursing support to children who have complex nursing and healthcare needs and life-limiting conditions.
But Sue has decided to retire after almost two decades with staff marking her achievements during a celebratory event at the Orford Jubilee Park.
Community children’s nurse Cathy Jones said: “The team have provided care and support to the children and families within the home, school and community setting.
“Under the loving care and leadership of Sue they have become a valuable nursing service to families.
“As her long standing colleague and friend I can proudly say that Sue Lawton epitomises what it is to be a children’s nurse and it has been my privilege to work alongside her for 19 years.”
