IT lasts 26 miles, and for one Thelwall runner, it is almost her 26th marathon.
Because 58-year-old Carol Fell will run her 22nd marathon on London on Sunday - and she just can't get enough.
Having loved running since she was at school, she has raised more than £90,000 during that time for a range of different charities.
She said: "As a child, I really loved running. I tried to concentrate on physical activities when I was at school."
Carol, from Thelwall, manages to balance her job as a secretary in the 14-19 department at Warrington Collegiate with a strict training regime.
She said: "My personal best in the marathon is three hours and 50 minutes, something I achieved when I was 43. This year, I will be happy with anything around four and a half hours. I've taken part in marathons in New York, Paris, Liverpool and Nottingham but London just has the edge."
This year, Carol is raising money for the Stoke Association in memory of her parents and the mother of a colleague.
