Fundraising day
A FUNDRAISING day to raise funds for a group campaigning against proposals to build up to 90 homes in Appleton Thorn will take place on Sunday.
Campaign Against Ruining our Environment (CARE) has protested against the plans by Bloor Homes to develop land on Stretton Road but a planning application is yet to be made.
But CARE is continuing its efforts to help raise funds to cover potential costs in the future.
The fundraiser will take place at Appleton Thorn Village Hall from 2pm to 4pm and will include a guest appearance from the village's choir.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided, with all funds to go to CARE.
Entry is priced at £5 for adults and £2 for children.
Festival begins
MONTHS of preparation have come to an end as Stockton Heath Festival begins today.
Organisers are urging families to visit the village to take part in the activities until Sunday.
Activities on offer include a production of Alice in Wonderland, face painting, sports taster events, bell ringing.

Joy for Walton Gardens
WALTON Hall and Gardens has received a certificate of excellence from one of the world's largest travel sites.
The scenic site has been recognised by Trip Advisor for its commitment to being one of the 'very best in the business'.
The award, now in its fifth year, celebrates hospitality excellence and can only be earned through rave reviews.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to see that Walton Hall and Gardens has been recognised and rewarded as a fantastic attraction in the town.
"It's one of the many jewels in Warrington’s crown and is a much loved area for all residents to enjoy, especially during the summer.
"Walton Hall was also recently awarded with prestigious tourism status by Visit England so I'm happy to see that the investment into the area is really paying off."
