Pupils unearth time capsule to celebrate 40 years since school opened
A SCHOOL has marked its 40th birthday by unearthing a time capsule which was buried in 1975.
The capsule was filled full of the children’s favourite things from 40 years ago, including diary entries and fact files, roller skates, Monopoly, a Look In magazine and pictures of the Bay City Rollers and The Wombles.
Other favourites included a four pence packet of Polo mints, bubble gum, finger bobs, pictures of Bagpuss, Play School and Morph, vinyl records, space hoppers and a cassette tape recorders for the Top 40 on Sunday.
Head teacher Michelle Dobson said: "The children have a very exciting term ahead.
"In celebration of the school’s 40th birthday, they have been learning all about the 1970s and have planned a 1970s themed celebration day where they will rebury the time capsule filled with artefacts from 2015 for pupils to discover in the future."

Playgroup rated good by Ofsted
A PLAYGROUP has improved its Ofsted rating to good after a recent inspection.
Littlebears Playgroup, based at St Margaret's CE Primary School on School Road, has improved since it was last inspected in November 2014 when it was rated inadequate.
The inspector found that ‘staff promote children’s confidence and self-motivation well’ and that the ‘teaching is good and staff engage children well’.
The report also recommended that the school enhance children’s understanding of letters and simple words by displaying text and uses a wider range of material to support children’s learning about technology.
Men ready to tackle everything after shedding 45 stone
MEN attending a 12-week weight loss and fitness programme have shed a combined total of 45 stone.
With help from LiveWire and Warrington Wolves, the men were able to celebrate their success at the Super League Wolves vs Catalan match after they started the Fit to Tackle programme in February.
They took part in a number of fitness sessions and health education talks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with assistance from LiveWire’s health and wellbeing advisors and fitness professionals from the Warrington Wolves Rugby Team.
Michael Titchard, from Orford, was the biggest loser from the group having lost more than three stone and 16 per cent of his body fat over the 12-week period.
He was presented with a signed Warrington Wolves t-shirt by the Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Terry O’Neil for his incredible efforts.
Michael said: “I can’t believe the positive affect Fit to Tackle has had on my life.
“I never used to exercise and couldn’t keep the weight from creeping on. Joining the programme gave me a new lease of life, now; I actually enjoy exercising three times a week and eating healthy meals.
“I’ve made some great friends from the course and we’ve all promised each other to continue exercising now the course has finished.”
To be part of the programme you need to be aged between 30 and 55 and have a BMI over 27 and can contact LiveWire’s Lifestyles team by calling 0300 0030818 or visiting livewirewarrington.co.uk/fittotackle.
