PUPILS have been learning how to build a house that even the big bad wolf couldn’t blow down.
Five and six-year-old pupils from St Andrews CE Primary School visited Warrington Collegiate along with their teacher Andrea Gorman to learn all about brickwork after being inspired by The Three Little Pigs, which they have been reading at school.
During the visit the children built their own model houses out of straw, timber and brick before putting them to the test to see which would blow down and which were strong enough to stay upright.
Lecturers from Warrington Collegiate Construction Department lead the session.
Andrew Atkin, lecturer in construction at Warrington Collegiate and architect of the Three Little Pigs session, said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome St Andrews Primary School to Warrington Collegiate.
“We planned a session that was fun and interactive as well as teaching them about what it’s like to work in the construction industry.”
Pupils were also taken on a tour of the workshop so the children can learn about machinery, tools and equipment used in the construction industry.
