BUILDING work can soon start on a vital new community resource in the heart of Lymm.
Councillors met last Wednesday to agree a scheme to extend Lymm Library on Davies Way.
Members of the development control committee gave the green light for the work which will not only improve the library to allow the Citizen's Advice Bureau to move in, but also to create a space to provide a children's area.
Clr Sheila Woodyatt told the meeting she was delighted that the scheme had been passed.
She added: "This has been years in the planning and it is marvellous that it has finally come to fruition."
Councillors were told by officers that while the scheme was in the village's conservation area, the building work would not cause any harm to the area, other than the pruning of some trees and bushes.
The two-storey extension will be funded by Warrington Borough Council and will include a space that could be used for mums and babies groups or other community projects.
The building will now be followed by other work in the area.
As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, Lymm Parish Council has secured a grant to provide landscaping works along the Bridgewater Canal.
That work will resurface paths as well as provide low level lighting and a more attractive area.
