Friday saw my longest ride yet.
A pretty paltry amount by most people's standards - around 12 miles to Birchwood business park.
I went with my sister's boyfriend while he tried out the route before starting work there.
We tried to cycle together but it soon became clear I'd overestimated how much progress I'd made.
Even on a mountainbike, allbeit a nice Scott one with slick tyres, he should not have been able to pull away easily, but kept doing so.
The worst bit was on the way back.
I was lagging behind as I pulled up to the stop sign past the old barracks as you turn right on to Orford Lane.
I tried pulling away in too high a gear and snapped off the edge of the right one of my cheap pedals.
It was okay without it but it will need replacing in the future.
Despite falling behind and being tired I enjoyed it.
And it finished with a pub lunch at the Ferry Tavern, so I could have no complaints.
