THE grandma of killed tot Ellie Lawrenson has been charged by the police with manslaughter.
Ellie, aged five, died on New Year's Day after being attacked by a pit bull at the home of Jacqueline Simpson in St Helens.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced this afternoon that they will charge Ms Simpson over the tragedy.
She will appear before magistrates on April 11 along with Ellie's uncle Kiel Simpson who was charged with being in possession of a dangerous dog.
Ellie's family home is in Great Sankey.
