Fewer locations would mean longer journeys fo some patients but shorter ones for others. Patients in the twon already travel an average of 1.3 miles to see their GP and longer to attend hospital.
We want more care to be delivered locally and less at the hospital so for many people the number of journeys will reduce. Each health centre will be served by public transport and have free car parking.
