On March 14th, volunteers from Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) were honoured by the Mayor and Consort of Warrington, Clrs Linda and Allin Dirir, at The 10th Annual Volunteer Awards hosted by Volunteer Centre Warrington at the Village Hotel.

These awards recognised volunteers who had achieved 100 hours or more of volunteering, along with those who had successfully completed Accredited Courses for Volunteering.

The Mayor was keen to acknowledge the achievements of volunteers in Warrington, "This is a special room full of wonderful people. We are very proud of the tremendous amount of voluntary work that is taking place in Warrington."

During the evening volunteers, co-ordinators and guests learnt about the work of the 24 different organisations and the wonderful contribution made by their volunteers.

Karen Burman, Award Scheme Co-ordinator at the Volunteer Centre said, "Volunteers give so much time and energy into helping others and don't often get the recognition that they deserve."

Jayne Horton, Operations Manager for WDP, nominated the volunteers for their awards noting that "volunteering at WDP comes in many guises. All of our Trustees are volunteers working behind the scenes at home during evenings and weekends, most of our paid staff work volunteer hours outside of their contracted hours. Fundraising volunteers turn up at weekends for our Tombolas, Quiz Nights and Car Boot Sales and all of the Stewards at DAD are volunteers. I also can't forget our volunteers who regularly turn up week after week at our CIL, Market Information Point and Shopmobility offices & Wizard Narrow Boat."
