A ROBBER on a moped snatched £50,000 outside Sainsbury's.
The mugger threatened a security guard with an unknown weapon when he left the supermarket carrying a money box to a security van on Church Street at 1.50pm.
The incident happened on Thursday when the robber drove off with the cash on a blue Yamaha moped towards Manchester Road.
A spokesman for Warrington police said: "We want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and saw this motorcycle or a white box van with black writing on the side.
"The guard was severely shaken by the incident but was not physically harmed."
The cash box was later found discarded on Claude Street.
The mugger wore a high visibility jacket and a crash helmet at the time of the incident.
