A CHARITY worker from Rixton has completed a Swimathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Determined Mary Barbour hit her target of 60 lengths at Woolston pool on Sunday.
Now the 55-year-old, having swum further than some people can run, is hoping her achievement will bolster the money she has already raised.
"It was a great way of getting fit and raising money for a good cause," Mrs Barbour, of St Helens Close, said.
"Hopefully, having shown I can do it will encourage other people to get involved.
"I chose Marie Curie because they do very good work and working for another charity, I realise what a difference it can make.
"I'm not a very good swimmer, but I did a bit of practice and enjoyed the challenge."
Swimathon 2007 attracted more than 20,000 swimmers to 600 pools nationwide.
