CHILDREN at Burtonwood Primary School got on their bikes on Friday to tackle a national cycling award scheme.
BikeRight Bikeability hopes to get thousands of youngsters whizzing about on their bikes and pedalling their way to success.
The Cycling Proficiency' for the 21st century is designed to give children the skills and confidence to cycle safely in and around today's modern roads.
It has been introduced to help make cycling an everyday activity, an alternative mode of transport, a way to keep healthy and above all, lots of fun.
Anne Hudson, head teacher, said: "We were asked to pick 12 children to take part in the scheme.
"The children were really excited and they got all their helmets and bikes ready to make sure they were all geared up for it."
