BUDDING anglers have a new string to their rods after a new pool was opened in Appleton.

Youngsters at Warrington Anglers Association will be able to improve their skills on the newly acquired training pool, which was donated by developers Taylor Woodrow last Tuesday.

Bob Pickthall, regional managing director for the housing company, said: "We're delighted to hand over the pool to Warrington Anglers Association. We recognise the part anglers play in the conservation of wildlife, so we are assured the pool will continue to be an attractive feature for our residents at The Hamptons, as well as a good place for youngsters to enjoy the sport."

The pool was part of land acquired for the Hamptons housing estate.

Warrington Anglers Association secretary Frank Lythgoe said: "We're hugely grateful to Taylor Woodrow for giving us the opportunity - it's an ideal place to coach juniors because of its relatively small size and you can keep all anglers within eyesight because of the shape."
