FORGET Daffy and Donald - Lymm will be flooded with a different type of duck next month.

Because it is that time of year again when the village goes a bit whacky and hosts its annual duck race.

The event, which takes place on bank holiday, Easter Monday, April 9, is a massive fundraiser for the area - and there will also be life-sized ducks on the land to join the plastic compatriots who make up the competitors on the day.

Organised by Lymm Round Table, hundreds of ducks make up the race.

Rik Wilson, from the Round Table, said: "This is a great fundraiser for local charities and last year we made nearly £4,000 for worthy causes."

Race commentary will be provided by Lymm resident Tony Horne - the former Century FM DJ - who will chart the ducks' journey.

The duck race starts at noon at the upper dam when the fire service will be on hand to drop the ducks into the dam.

Villagers can buy a duck and there is even a competition for corporate people too.

The ducks and the crowd then head to the lower dam to wait for the ducks to arrive. There are a number of prizes on offer, sponsored by local businesses.

And there will be plenty of entertainment in the centre of the village too for the day.
