A DAY centre that helps people with physical injuries is celebrating after its volunteers won awards for their dedication.

Members of the voluntary team at Dallam Day Centre were awarded certificates to mark the time they have devoted to help the centre.

The Volunteer Centre Warrington awarded the hard-working team certificates to recognise the time that they have spared as part of the Volunteer Centre's award scheme.

The centre, which is based at Back Dallam Lane, works with people who have a range of physical problems that are linked to conditions such as strokes, multiple sclerosis and brain injuries caused by road accidents. By using various methods, the centre aims to help these people build on their skills that might have become impaired and also help them to increase their independence and build on their confidence.

It also offers a collection of courses with Warrington Collegiate, such as art, pottery and Spanish.

Many of the volunteers are people who have used the centre in some ways themselves.

Dave Taylor, centre manager, said: "We fully appreciate the support that all our volunteers offer us. Their commitment, energy and enthusiasm are second to none. They help all aspects of our service and for that they deserve full credit."
