Dukes to take on a scum of a run
THREE friends are preparing to take part in a charity rally across Europe.
The Dukes of Biohazard, aka Chris Johnson, Craig Daniels and Mark Ryder, will compete in the Scumrun, a four-day rally in a car worth no more than £500.
More than 100 cars and 300 people will take part in the event, which will take them to secret locations that are only announced on each morning, between May 14 and 18.
The event will raise money for JDRF, a charity that funds support and research to help cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes — a condition that thousands of children in the UK suffer from.
Each member of The Dukes of Biohazard has a mechanical background and a shared interest in raising money for good causes.
Chris, who is from Orford, said: “Each car is to be valued at no more than £500, but modifications are not restricted and fancy dress and costumes highly encouraged.
“The car we have picked to use for this event is a BMW E39 5 Series, mainly chosen for its reliability and comfort.
"It has been modified to draw attention to help raise our team profile and the money donated to JDRF.”
Preparation for the event has been aided by the Motor Vehicle students at Warrington Collegiate and other companies such as Warrington car audio and tow bars, The Volkswagen centre in St Helens and Theleegroup.co.uk.
To donate, text ‘SRTB79 £3’ to 70070 or visit justgiving.com/teams/thedukesofbiohazard.
The group will be providing regular updates The Dukes Of Biohazard Scumrun 2015 Facebook page.

Boxercise event raise thousands for cancer charities
A BOXERCISE event has raised more than £3,000 for charity.
The event, organised by personal trainers Nicola Rae and John Chorley, who run bootcamp classes at Kings University Academy in Padgate, and held at Pure Gym.
They were joined 20 bootcamp members and clients from Rae of Fitness to complete a three-hour continuous boxercise called Box2Beat to raise money for ovarian cancer charities.
Boxercise is a pad-work based class covering areas such as endurance, strength, core and conditioning.
Nicola said: “There were plenty of shaky hands and smiley faces at the end.
“Some people were taking part after having lost family members to the illness while others doing it for personal reasons. We raised just over £3,000 and loved every minute if it.”
The next Box2Beat event is being held in October to raise money for breast cancer charities but this time the boxercise will last for five hours.
