AN outstanding St Rocco's Hospice volunteer has received a special award for his dedication and hard work.

Roger Morey, a trustee and volunteer at the hospice for 22 years received the Long Service to Social Enterprise Award' at the first Social Enterprise Awards evening held last Thursday at Willington Hall Hotel in Tarporley.

Roger has been a trustee for 15 of his 22 years at St Rocco's and his achievements include project managing, on a voluntary basis, the construction of the existing building.

He is currently doing the same for the proposed expansion of the hospice, which will include a new day unit and therapy suite, as well as an education resources centre.

The award was also presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution as an active trustee, manager and hands on volunteer at the hospice.

An independent panel, made up of representatives from Merseyside and Lancashire sub regional social enterprise partnerships, decided which of the nominees should be presented with five awards in categories including Inspirational Leadership Award', and Trustee of the Year 2007'.

The awards, hosted by Cheshire and Warrington Social Enterprise Partnership, were held in recognition of the contribution made by trustees and directors of social enterprises in managing and promoting their organisations.
